When California girl Susan Murphy is unwittingly clobbered by a meteor full of outer space gunk on her wedding day, she mysteriously grows to 49-feet-11-inches tall. The military jumps into action and Susan is captured and secreted away to a covert government compound. There, she is renamed Ginormica and placed in confinement with a ragtag group of Monsters: the brilliant but insect-headed Dr. Cockroach, Ph.D.; the macho half-ape, half-fish The Missing Link; the gelatinous and indestructible B.O.B.; and the 350-foot grub called Insectosaurus. Their confinement is cut short, however, when a mysterious alien robot lands on Earth and begins storming the country. In a moment of desperation, the President is persuaded to enlist the motley crew of Monsters to combat the Alien Robot and save the world from imminent destruction.
Thanks to Nuffnang, I won two tickets to the preview screening of Monsters Vs Aliens which was shown last night at TGV KLCC. The pessimist Ah Loot warned me about safety at the KLCC car park because the show was to start at 9.30 p.m and that meant that by the time the show ended it would be about 11 pm at least. She also asked me whether the entrances to the car park would be closed when the shopping centre closes. I guess her fear came about because once we had parked our car at Sg Wang Plaza and gone out of the shopping centre to have some “makan”. When we got back, we could not go to the car park as the whole shopping centre was shut. It was the same with a few other shopping centres, so this time, to play safe, I called up KLCC Suria and they confirmed that the car park is opened 24 hours. So, that was a big relief. Also when the show ended at around 11.15 p.m. the car park was still very brightly litted so it didn’t feel scary even though there were not many cars around.
Anyway, coming back to the Monsters Vs Aliens movie …
It is a 3D movie so we had to wear these glasses….
It can be quite uncomfortable if you are also wearing spectacles as you have to wear these 3D glasses over them. They tend to slip down to your nose and it can be quite annoying, so use your contact lenses if you go for a 3D movie.
While waiting for the movie to begin, a sing song voice came over the air, “Dear valued customers, there will be a surcharge of RM150 if the glasses are damaged or lost …..” I think they were afraid that we would take the glasses with us and use them as sunglasses. Duh!!! We would probably look like monsters or aliens in them.
Now, where were we? Oh yes, the movie…. it was great, Ah Loot and I enjoyed it very much. I think we were the only “oldies” among the sea of young faces, but this 3D animated movie appeals to people of all ages. If you have seen Shrek at Universal Studios, you’ll know what I mean, but that was 4D (oi, I don’t mean the Magnum 4D lah) wasn’t it? The story has a typical good against evil theme. The good characters (the monsters) were so lovable and each had their own quirky personalities. I won’t tell you guys much (don’t want to spoil your fun) but this I can say, it is a very entertaining movie which your whole family can enjoy.
The Monsters Vs Aliens 3D movie will be shown in cinemas on 28 May 2009.
Ah Loot says that I should do better than to just post a picture of my cat on Teacher’s Day. I didn’t have time to post a long story, so I’d just like to share this song “To Sir With Love” with you (I suppose only those people in my generation will appreciate this song). I saw this movie many times when I was young. To all the teachers who have touched my life and taught me all that I know, “Happy Teacher’s Day” .
