Craving for mamak food

May 29th, 2010 Becklee 4 comments

It’s way past midnight as I’m writing this post and as I was looking at the food pictures I took previously, I suddenly had a craving for mamak food like nasi lemak and roti canai and teh tarik. At this hour, it’s easy to find a mamak stall open even in the area where I live. But then nowadays, it is quite dangerous to wander around late at night, even if we go in a group.

So, I’ll just have to wait till morning to have my taste of mamak food. It’s been ages since I ate a roti canai, I suppose because for two months already I have ordered food from Mom Homecook Food Delivery Service. I only order dinner and they deliver to my house at around 6 p.m. from Monday to Friday. So far, there is enough variety of dishes to keep us from getting tired of eating the same food all the time. The service is excellent, I must add and if I need the food to be delivered to another address, they will accommodate such a request. Most important is the convenience I get from such food delivery service.

Restoran Moss River

April 17th, 2010 Becklee No comments

Richard and Woon took Ah Loot, my mom and I to their latest food discovery at Sri Damansara. The Restoran Moss River is situated somewhere near the Post Office at the row of shops behind Pappa Rich. When we entered the shop, we saw a row of home-made cakes, scones and pies on sale on the right side and on the left side were vases of false flowers. It appeared a little bit cluttered with all the flowers around.  In fact, there were flowers at every nook and corner of the restaurant. The setting of the restaurant was nice, although a bit cramped.

The three of us had English tea whilst Woon had coffee and Richard had Jasmine tea.

We ordered the set dishes (we had a choice of the main dish). Since Woon had earlier warned us that the servings were large, Ah Loot, my mom and I shared two set dishes and Richard and Woon shared one set dish.

The first course was pumpkin and vegetable soup. Very delicious.

This is the lasagne dish which comes with salad.

Richard and Woon had this Nyonya curry chicken rice set.

This is the mushroom pie set. Inside got chicken and peas and other vegetables. Very yummy.

For dessert, everyone shared the banana cake and swiss roll.  I think Ah Loot makes better tasting cakes.

We wanted to try the scones so, this was ordered separately. The scones are to be eaten with butter and marmalade jam.

I was told by Woon that all the furniture and decorations we saw in the restaurant are for sale. The restaurant is closed on Sundays and they are opened from 9.30 a.m. to 6.30 p.m.

We had dinner at Sai Gong, Bandar Manjalara tonight. We were there early at around 7 p.m. and the food came out quite fast. The diners kept coming in after that and when we left, almost all the tables were occupied. The food is nice and tasty here.

After dinner, we stopped by at Tesco supermarket to buy some stuff.  Then we went home. Oh, I bathed Tiger this afternoon and his fur is all fluffy and nice.  Look at him sleeping in his favourite position.
