Sushi Zanmai at 1 Utama

Ah Loot and I were at 1 Utama on Saturday and we decided to have lunch at the Sushi Zanmai. We had passed this restaurant before in the past but there was always a queue and this time it was also the same. But we decided to wait in line this time because we didn’t want to go around hunting for food.

The food we ordered clockwise from top left:

Chicken Gyoza – RM9.80

Tempura Mori – RM9.80

Unagi Kabayaki -  RM12.80

Gohan or rice – RM6.00 for two bowls

Sushi we got from the conveyor belt below  – RM6.80

Yee Sang – RM13.80

Ocha or green tea – RM2.00 for two cups.

The total cost was RM70.15 plus taxes.

The yee sang is served during a limited time because of Chinese New Year. It tastes okay but I still prefer the ones served at Chinese restaurants.

There were a variety of sushi going around in front of us but we only chose one plate. Overall, the food was delicious and fresh. We enjoyed our meal here and found out that they have one outlet at Desa Parkcity. So we might go there some other time.

Chinese New Year decorations at 1 Utama

February 7th, 2010 Becklee 2 comments

Ah Loot and I decided to finally drag ourselves to 1 Utama to do some last minute Chinese New Year shopping.  We went there around noon and we were greeted by these two guys, I think they symbolise prosperity or something. Anyway, the whole place was practically flooded with the colour red. It’s a nice colour and it kind of lifts our spirits too. Many people were shopping for clothes and also decorations for the home.

This cat with its left paw swinging up and down is a common sight beside the cash register of many shops here. I was told the cat is gesturing  “money come, money come”. Although it looks like a cat, I think the one here is supposed to be a Tiger since this is the year of the Tiger.

Plants for Chinese New Year

These are the popular plants that are bought to decorate the house during Chinese New Year. I saw many of such plants at 1 Utama the other day.
